How do I go about getting a reservation on the cluster?

The following is the model for non-investor based reservations:

  • Y = defined value based on an arbitrary percentage of total cores (currently 6.25% or 1000) available to any one group
  • Y2 = max number of cores for non-investors in aggregate (currently 3000)
  • q = average queue depth in cores over 6 months (currently 16,000)
  • c = current queue depth in cores
  • Formula: X = Y + (q – c)
    • Examples:
      •  X = 1,000 + (16,000 – 15,500) = 1,500
      •  X = 1,000 + (16,000 – 16,500) = 500
      •  X = 1,000 + (16,000 – 18,000) = none, meaning all requests will require an approval
  • Total cores available per group
    • Up to 3000 cores max (Y2)
    • More requires approval
  • Duration of reservation for non-investors
    • 2 weeks at a time
    • More requires approval
  • Number of reservations per year for non-investors
    • 3 reservations per year
    • More requires approval
Investors will always be allowed to reserve the number  of cores equivalent to their investment. However, if their request exceeds the their investment cores, the above formula will apply. Investors are not subject to duration or frequency limitations on investment cores.
